With the recent record-setting gasoline prices, the online websites with almost real-time prices for competing gasoline outlets have become increasingly popular. While these websites aren’t exactly new, they are considered to be more relevant than they were when the prices were much lower.
We don’t recommend any specific gas price comparions website over another, but they are easy enough to find and we do encourage you to check them out yourself.
A word of caution however – We’ve seen recently that prices displayed on the various websites are not accurate. In some cases, they aren’t even close to the price at the pump. So, while it is recommended that you use the data from these websites as a guide, you should still verify that the price posted at the gas station is what you’re expecting.
Also for this reason, we do not recommend that you travel any distance out of your way seeking a minor savings in gasoline. It’s possible that you’ll find a different price when you get there, and then you have also wasted the gasonline for the trip.
